Floor Preparation

Plywood

Proper floor preparation can make or break an installation of carpet or other flooring material. Of particular concern should be concrete floors that have had a previous floor covering adhered to it prior to your new installation. Old adhesives or an uneven substrate can cause havoc to a new installation. The surface must also indicate no excess moisture or harmful chemical emissions that can adversely affect the room’s occupants. Beacon Flooring’s experts will assess your existing concrete to determine if any action is needed to properly prepare the floor. Old adhesive may need to be removed and uneven concrete may need to be skim-coated or possibly even self-leveled.

Many methods are available to create a clean, smooth and safe sub-flooring surface. Your Beacon professional will advise you on the most appropriate and cost-effective method for your project.
